I had the thought that it would be a nice idea to have a timeline with dates of the most probable course of events in the Myst universe. I think I have the exact same crease in my copy of Book of Ti'ana as well. The events of the Book of Atrus Achenar's birth. The Myst novels tell the story of D'ni, an ancient civilization centered around art and creativity. Apparently, that book trilogy is the basis for their current script, and it's said to explore “the backstory of the civilization known as The D'ni, the infinite number of worlds they could create and control and a young woman from Earth and her accidental intrusion into the D'ni society,” . Myst: The player is transported to a strange, deserted island by reading a magical book. Once there, he/she Myst: The Book of Ti'ana tells the story of the downfall of the D'ni (so this takes place before the Book of Atrus). I think the structure, the interlocked stories, had a large impact on my reading tastes.
